Tips & Tricks of the Trade Tools and techniques for concealing under eye circles and overzealous blemishes! Even the best complexions suffer occasional imperfections, but with the right concealer no one needs to know. Concealer is the number one product to use every day, even if you do nothing else. Blemishes Color and consistency: Pick a shade of concealer that matches your skin tone or foundation. The best way to hide a blemish is to hide the redness. Don’t use something that is lighter than the blemish, because you’re going to draw attention to it. Concealer with a thicker consistency (from a stick or a pot) generally works best since it gives maximum coverage. How to apply: Use a rounded U-tip brush to dab concealer onto the center of the blemish area. Lightly tap it in with a sponge or a finger. Dark Circles Color and consistency: Use a concealer one shade lighter than your skin tone or foundation. Try to choose one with an orange cast (beige will make dark circles appear gray). Women with Olive skin should use a yellow-based peachy pink to cover the area while matching their skin tone. For severe dark circles, a thick, creamy concealer works better than sheer formulas. How to apply: Start at the innermost corner of the eye. Dot concealer with a rounded brush at the side of the bridge of the nose and continue dotting over to the middle of the lash line. Blend all the way up into the lash line and out to the outer corner of the eye. The rounded brush is important, because you want it to get into the little place, like that inner corner of your eye. The Tip! Cream concealer is easier to work with if you dab it on the skin, wait a few minutes for it to warm up, and then blend it in. |
